The City of Indio hosts waste tire collection events to support a clean and healthy environment. At these events, any Coachella Valley resident can bring waste tires and drop them off for free and the tires are taken to a recycling facility. It is a free, simple, and easy way to dispose of old tires. These events are a part of the Sustainability Collection events.

• All tires must be removed from rims
• Passenger car and truck tires only
• Only nine (9) tires can be transported for collection at one time. Multiple trips are acceptable.
• No tires accepted from businesses or non-profit organizations

The purpose of tire recycling is to collect, remove and recycle waste tires from illegal tire piles and areas where illegal dumping has occurred. 40 million tires a year are generated in California alone, so it is important to keep them out of the landfill and out of our environment. Old tires provide shelter for rodents, lower property values and in landfills tires consume up to 75 percent air space.
