The Indio Water Authority must meet rigorous requirements as mandated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the California State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water. We meet or exceed all state and federal standards. The Indio Water Authority relies exclusively on the Whitewater Aquifer to provide service to its customers; without local heavy industry or direct blending with imported water, we believe we provide some of the best-tasting, high quality water in Southern California.

No. IWA allocates a reasonable amount of water based on each customer's needs and does not currently fine customers for inefficient water use.

Residential water budgets include an indoor budget and an outdoor budget. The monthly indoor water budget (Tier 1) for IWA customers is equal to 62.5 gallons of water per person, per day. Indoor use accounts for only 10-30% of a residential usage with the 70-80% of water being for outdoor use.'Outdoor water budgets (Tier 2) are calculated individually for all residential and large landscape customers.
