The Indio Water Authority offers residential and commercial water services for the majority of the community of Indio and some of the unincorporated areas of Indio Hills. The IWA's drinking water is derived exclusively from the lower Coachella Valley Groundwater Basin, or the Whitewater Aquifer, that lies roughly 300' to 1,300' below the ground surface in Indio.

Residential Customers make up 92% of the Authority's customer base and consume approximately 73% of the water produced annually by the Authority.

The Indio Water Authority offers a variety of other services including engineering plan reviews, fire hydrant maintenance and environmental services.
