CD-ROMsThe City of Indio, in partnership with Desert Arc Recycling, provides free electronic waste collection events. These events are open to anyone in the Coachella Valley.

Many types of electronic products used in the workplace and homes contain hazardous substances like lead and mercury. It is illegal to dispose of these hazardous electronic wastes in the regular trash can. Electronic items that are considered to be hazardous include, but are not limited to:

  • Televisions and computer monitors that contain cathode ray tubes (CRT)
  • LCD desktop monitors;
  • Laptop computers with LCD displays;
  • LCD televisions;
  • Plasma televisions; and
  • Portable DVD players with LCD screens.

If you have any questions about which items are accepted as electronic waste, please call Desert Arc Recycling at 760-346-1611 or visit the website at desertarcrecycling.com.

Since these items may not be disposed of in the regular trash, the City of Indio and Burrtec Waste and Recycling Industries also provide a residential pickup program. Indio residents can have up to 4 electronic waste items picked up weekly on your regular trash day. Residents must schedule the pickup before placing the items curbside next to regular waste. Call Burrtec to schedule a pickup at 760-340-2113.
