General Program Information

The City of Indio’s COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Business Assistance Program “PPE Program” provides free PPEs to eligible Indio businesses on a first-come, first-served basis to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This program is funded through the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, as approved by the City Council on June 3, 2020, and is made possible via the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relieve, and Economic Recovery (CARES) Act.

Indio Businesses Eligible to Receive PPEs

Non-Residential Businesses (such as restaurants, retail stores, offices, convenience markets, and other businesses including non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations) are eligible to receive PPEs. Governmental organizations such as federal, state and local governments and school districts are not eligible for participation in the Program.

Additionally, the interested Business must possess an active City of Indio Business License and operate within City limits.

Note: The City reserves the right to approve or deny program participation at its sole discretion, and/or may make modification to the PPE Program at any time as may be needed to ensure program effectiveness, delivery efficiency, and to ensure compliance with Federal, State and/or Local regulations. The City may cease program operation at any time when PPE supplies are exhausted, or for any other reason.

PPEs the Eligible Businesses Will Receive

Qualified businesses will be entitled to receive a one-time distribution of PPEs, while supplies last. The PPEs include:

  • Latex Gloves (Universal Size)
  • Disposable Face Masks

At the City’s discretion, and based on the availability of PPEs, the City may provide additional PPEs through subsequent distribution rounds in a manner the City deems necessary/appropriate.

How to Apply

Step 1: Complete the "Business Assistance Request Form" and Submit it 1 of 2 ways

  1. Online via the City Website:
  2. Or by E-mail at housing@indio.org

Step 2: Await Approval Confirmation from City PPE Program Staff

The Qualified Business will be notified by E-mail of the Businesses eligibility to participate in the Program. (If the Business prefers to receive an approval confirmation via phone, please check the box where indicated in the Business Assistance Request Form accordingly. The E-mail (or phone call) will include instructions for picking-up the PPEs at the designated pick-up location.

Step 3: Pick Up of PPEs (via a scheduled contactless vehicle drive-up window service)

The PPEs will be distributed by appointment only through a contactless vehicle drive-up method that requires the persons picking up the PPEs to remain in their vehicles at all times during the distribution of the PPEs and to wear face masks if windows are open or there is communication between the individual (s) picking up the PPD and City PPE program staff. This process helps comply with social distancing guidelines in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. No walk-in orders will be accepted or in-office orders processed. When coming to your appointment, please have a copy or photo of your approval email confirmation for eligibility verification. Program staff will bring the PPE’s to the vehicle for distribution.
