CONSOLIDATED PLAN UPDATE

The City of Indio is recognized by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a participating entitlement City in HUD’s Community Development Block Grant Program. HUD requires the City to have a Consolidated Plan that must be updated periodically. An updated Consolidated Plan is prepared every five years, and its planning process serves as the framework for a community-wide dialogue to identify housing, public facilities, public improvement, public service, and economic development needs and priorities. Based on the analysis, the City of Indio can develop goals and prioritize federal funding on identified housing and community needs.

GET INVOLVED

Over the next few months, Indio residents will be encouraged to share their needs and priorities through virtual and in-person community forums, including a community needs survey, an in-person pop-up at an existing community event, and an in-person community workshop. This webpage will be updated with new information as it becomes available. Please subscribe to the Consolidated Plan Update mailing list to be notified of upcoming community outreach events and activities. Events will also be posted on the City’s live calendar.

Community Needs Survey

The Community Needs Survey is a major component of the development of the City’s Consolidated Plan Update, which will help identify neighborhood and community challenges facing Indio residents related to housing, public facilities, public improvement, public service, and economic development needs and priorities. While the City and the consultant team will analyze data from a variety of sources, participating in the survey is a great way for Indio residents to identify the challenges most impacting their households now. Your feedback will help shape the Consolidated Plan Update for 2025-2029 and funding priorities.

PROCESS

The Consolidated Plan is carried out through Annual Action Plans, which provide a concise summary of the actions, activities, and the resources that will be used each year to address the priority needs and goals identified by the Consolidated Plan. As a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) recipient, the City of Indio is required to report on accomplishments and progress toward Consolidated Plan goals in the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).
