Oscar Ortiz is an immigrant from Mexicali, Baja California. He grew up in Indio, CA and graduated from Indio High School in 2008. He went on to study at Stanford University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry in 2012. Oscar has 7 years of experience working in the production of pharmaceuticals, including biopharmaceuticals, radioactive pharmaceuticals, and natural remedies, such as cannabis. Oscar was elected onto Indio’s City Council in 2018 by District 4, which has the highest level of poverty within the city. Oscar expresses his interest in the need for affordable housing options for residents, the need for supporting locally owned businesses, and the need for a clean environment for our community.
