The City of Indio released a draft of the new Downtown Specific Plan on Friday, along with the plan's associated Environmental Impact Report.
The Indio Downtown Specific Plan establishes a long-term vision and development and public infrastructure standards for the revitalization of Downtown Indio. The goal is to create “a place for everyone; a human-scaled, urban center of activity concentrating community, culture and a commerce in a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use environment.”
The new Downtown Plan covers nearly 140 acres, generally bound by Indio Boulevard to the north; Jackson Street and Civic Center Mall to the east; Highway 111 to the south and Deglet Noor Street to the west.
