Indio Requests Public Input on Community Needs & Fair Housing

City of Indio's Consolidated Plan Survey

The City of Indio is requesting the public to complete an online survey to assess community needs to help prepare its 5-year Consolidated Plan to receive Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The survey will help the City set future goals and programs to better serve the community. Please click this link to complete the survey. To complete the survey in Spanish, click this link. The deadline to complete the survey is February 28, 2019.

City of Indio's Fair Housing Survey 

The City of Indio is also requesting the public to complete an online survey on fair housing to determine any challenges to housing opportunities in the community. A “fair housing issue” is defined as “a condition that restricts choice or access to housing opportunity, including:

- Evidence of illegal discrimination or violations of civil rights laws, regulations, or guidance. Ongoing local or regional segregation, or lack of integration.

- Racial or ethnic concentrations of poverty.

- Significant disparities in access to opportunity.

- Disproportionate housing needs based on the “protected classes” of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.

The survey will give the City a more effective means to affirmatively further the purposes of the Federal Fair Housing Act. All answers will be kept confidential.
