This Saturday, May 5th, don’t miss the Tachevah Music Showcase and Indio Block Party from 4:00-10:00 p.m. in Downtown Indio!
The Indio Block Party will host the 6th Annual Tachevah Music Showcase for the first time as it makes its move from Palm Springs to Indio. The event, which is put on by the Desert Sun and sponsored by the City of Indio, seeks the best emerging artists from the Coachella Valley and beyond for a season-long showcase of talent. It will culminate in live performances by the finalists vying for a cash prize.
Aside from the Tachevah Music Showcase, the Indio Block Party – which is free to attend – will have a car show, food vendors, exhibitors, a beer garden and an hour-long set by E&J Movement. Plus, Desert Recreation District will be providing activities for youth in the Kids Zone, including a rock wall provided UC Riverside, mobile choo-choo train and more. The Indio Block Party is presented by the City of Indio, the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Desert Sun, and title sponsors include Forest Lawn Mortuaries and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Supervisor V. Manuel Perez is an event sponsor.
The first Tachevah Music Showcase was conceived as a fun event in between the two Coachella weekends, and a chance for locals to see a Coachella act for free. It was also a celebration of the local music scene, with several local acts selected through the video/showcase process used today serving as opening acts for the headliner.
Finalists in this year’s Tachevah Music Showcase are Giselle Woo and the Night Owls, Razor J (whose real name is Juan Espino), Victor Bosc and Eevaan Tre.
“Indio is the epicenter of this young, vibrant artistic community, and that’s why we feel very strongly about having the final showcase in the downtown Indio setting, with free admission to the public, so the entire community can celebrate,” said Kate Franco of the Desert Sun.
