Introducing the Indio Youth Advisory Committee

The youth of today is the future of tomorrow! This year the Indio Youth Advisory Council (YAC) has a great team set up to be the voice of our Indio youth and be a part of our community. YAC is made up of select high school students who hold a minimum GPA of 2.5 and want to make a difference in their community. They attend regular city council meetings, sitting alongside the Indio Mayor and City Council and provide input on youth related issues.

The 2017-2018 Youth Advisory Council is made up of YAC Mayor, Yaire Pedroza, a sophomore at Indio High School who is currently Associated Student Body Historian, is a part of the yearbook staff, the Jesus Loves You Club and volunteers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. YAC Mayor Pro Tem is Diana Rodriguez, a junior at Indio High School and current Health Occupations Students of America President, involved in California Scholarship Foundation, Interact and Upward Bound. YAC Treasurer is Valerie Nuñez, a freshman at Indio High School. YAC Secretary is Rogelio Torres, a sophomore at Shadow Hills High School – involved in Academic Decathlon, band, and volunteers at Indio’s Bird Sanctuary. YAC Publicist, David Rodriguez, is a freshman at Indio High School. Other YAC members include Analisa Arellano and Tania Valdez, both freshmen at Indio High School.
