Sunset Blvd: A Live Radio Play @ IPAC, June 18, 2017

About the Show:

Murder, obsession and more! Sunset Boulevard ranks among the most scathing satires of Hollywood and the cruel fickleness of movie fandom. Now, see and hear it as a 1950’s radio play, complete with backstage comedy, musical advertisements, and let’s not forget the fantastic Foley artists. Norma Desmond will be ready for her close-up…on the microphone!

Praised by many critics when first released, Sunset Boulevard was nominated for eleven Academy Awards (including nominations in all four acting categories) and won three. Sunset Boulevard was produced as a radio play NBC’s Lux Radio Theater on September 17, 1951.

Sunset Boulevard: a live radio play is a backstage parody of a radio broadcast similar to the 1950’s Lux Radio Broadcasts of yesteryear. This production features much of the original story and includes new backstage storylines and antics that are sure to entertain. Lance Phillips-Martinez directs the talents of: Corbett Brattin (Announcer/Shelldrake/Old Guard), Stephee Bonifacio (Betty), Hal O’Connell (Stage manager/Artie/Young Guard), Adam Genesta (Foley Artist/Jingles), Stan Jenson (Max), Tanner Lieser (Joe), Coco Girelli (Libby), and Timm McBride in drag as Norma Desmond.
