ARABIA STREET CLOSURE BEGINS JUNE 11TH FOR STORM DRAIN AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS
Construction Work Will Increase Storm Drain Capacity and Enhance Road Conditions
INDIO, CA (June 8, 2018) – Arabia Street will be closed between Highway 111 and Dr. Carreon Boulevard from June 11 to July 31 to install a larger storm drain, relocate utilities, and improve street conditions as part of Riverside County’s construction of the John J. Benoit Detention Center. The intersection of Highway 111 and Arabia Street will also be closed from August through September for traffic signal modifications to enhance vehicle and pedestrian safety.
Road closure on Arabia Street between Garden Avenue and Dr. Carreon Boulevard will occur from June 20 to 29, 2018.
Street closures on Arabia Street will be permitted for one block at a time. Detours will be provided during all closures and access will be provided to all private and public facilities within the work limits. Notifications will be distributed by the contractor to affected residents and businesses. Parking along residential streets will have temporary restrictions. Construction will be performed in segments to minimize traffic impacts. Please adhere to traffic signs and notices. On Highway 111, one 12-foot wide lane and one 11-foot wide left turn lane in each direction will be maintained at all times outside of working hours.
This project will increase storm drain capacity in the area and improve pavement conditions on Arabia Street. The $2.9 million project is funded by the Riverside County Economic Development Agency.
