Desert Theatreworks (DTW) KidsWorks Summer Musical Theatre Camp is coming back to the Indio Performing Arts Center, and registrations are coming in every day. If anyone is interested in participating, they should sign up right away.
DTW’s summer theatre program is presented in partnership with the City of Indio and Elite Academy.
The program will run June 25th through August 3rd, with performance dates to come. This year, DTW is offering two separate programs, resulting in two different fully-staged musicals. The morning session (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) is for young performers aged 7-12. Students will not only perform in a musical, but will also learn prop, set and costume design. Youth in the morning session will work for nearly six weeks, with four performances of the musical, Disney’s Aladdin Jr.
The afternoon session (12:30-4 p.m.) is for youth aged 13-19 and follows a more mature curriculum than the morning session, culminating in the finished product Legally Blonde Jr.
Cost is $600, and scholarships are available for qualified students. Not all students applying for scholarships will be accepted. Registration is open until June 15th or until capacity of 60 children per track is reached. Spots are filling up quickly and anyone who is interested in having their child participate is encouraged to register soon.
