April is an incredible month in Indio as it hosts some of the most successful music festivals in the world. However, even with all the fanfare that’s brought in with these festivals, Indio is still a community that focuses on local residents and amenities they can enjoy year-round.
In Indio, there are activities for everyone from seeing a show at the Indio Performing Arts Center (IPAC) or enjoying all there is to offer at the Senior Center or Teen Center. There are also 14 parks in Indio, including two dog parks, where residents can get outside and enjoy this beautiful spring weather.
The City works to maintain these parks, and part of that work includes the installation of recycle bins. You might have noticed that all of the city parks have recycle bins – and it is important that we all use them.
It may not seem like a big deal to throw a plastic bottle or aluminum can in the recycle bin instead of a landfill bin, but this simple act helps keep our neighborhoods free of litter, saves resources and can even reduce greenhouse gases.
Indio is currently home to over 88,000 people, and together, we have a big impact on our community. So the next time you are at a birthday party at North Jackson Park or watching your kids play soccer at South Jackson Soccer Park, whether your child is an epic player or you were just barely able to convince him or her to go out on the field – please place your bottles and cans in the recycling containers.
