CITY OF INDIO TO UNVEIL INNOVATIVE NEW PUBLIC ART DISPLAY AT THE COACHELLA VALLEY HISTORY MUSEUM ON THURSDAY
INDIO, CA (October 10, 2017) – The city of Indio, in partnership with the Public Arts and Historic Preservation Commission, will unveil innovative new public art at the Coachella Valley History Museum (82616 Miles Avenue) on Thursday, October 12th at 6:30 p.m.
Residents and visitors alike will be able to view public art projected onto the historic M.H. Whittier Water Tower – an iconic piece located at the center of the Coachella Valley History Museum campus.
The public art display involves the creation of a 360-degree projection system that will project onto the exterior of the historic water tower. The tower’s height and location are ideal for the art to be seen from several locations in Indio, including Miles Avenue and Miles Avenue Park.
The project is being funded by Indio’s public art fund, and administered by the city’s Public Art and Historic Preservation Commission.
Content will be focused upon utilizing the “canvas” for the digital display of public art. Scheduling is still in progress, but is likely to occur early evenings 2-3 times per week, except during the summer.
The public is welcomed to attend the unveiling ceremony on October 12th. For more information, contact Les Johnson, Development Services Director, at email@example.com.
